Security Box Cameras
You
may see these behind cash registers, inside banks, retail stores, offices and residential areas. There are two
types of Box Cameras: General Purpose and Specialty. If seeing in complete
darkness or extremely low light is important, please see our IR/Night Vision Cameras.
What the difference between TVL Resolution? The greater the TVL, the more pixels per image are captured. So the more pixels captured means the clearer or more detailed the video will be. Choose between Standard Resolution (420 TVL), High Resolution (520 TVL+) or Ultra Resolution (620TVL+)
General Purpose Cameras
Our General Purpose color cameras allow you to see in lighting conditions that are viewable with the naked eye. This is most used for general indoor use. Keep in mind that when light conditions darken, visible video may no longer be available and you may only see a dark picture.
Specialty Cameras
When you want to see in difficult and constantly changing lighting conditions, this is the place for
you! Professional installers know the value of these Specialty
Cameras. Yes, the price is higher, but Specialty Cameras make
all the difference in what you see...and don't see. Many of these type of cameras will have an On Screen Display (OSD) which needs to be accessed in order to turn the features on, off and make any necessary adjustments. This is where a handy Test Monitor pays off!
Day/Night:
Day/Night Cameras are an ideal 24 hour surveillance camera. These color cameras are engineered to automatically switch to black
& white at night or in low light conditions which allow for visible
images. When lighting conditions change to allow for more light,
the camera will auto switch back to color.
Sens-Up:
This is the latest development to the security industry to
help capture color images at night. These type of cameras (a.k.a. extremely low light cameras) will indicate having a 'Sens-Up' feature. This feature means the camera is
sensitive to light at 2x, 4x, 8x, 32x, 64x & 128x Sens-Up Speed.
When the feature is enabled, the camera will draw surrounding light
into the imager by adjusting the digital slow shutter to offset the
regular frame rate. By doing this, the camera will have the ability to maintain color images longer however, the
greater the sens-up, the slower the shutter speed will be. This means it may be harder to capture quick moving objects
clearly if set too high. Knowledge of the CCTV industry is highly recommended in order to bring out the best of any 'sens-up' features and ensure the capture of usable video.
Wide Dynamic Range (WDR):
These are specialized cameras for limited and specific applications. This
technology allows for a clear image in situations where there is varied
lighting or a large 'dynamic range of light'. These
cameras are typically used when directed toward a large window or
entrance door that lets in large amounts of light (or sunlight). For
cameras not using WDR technology, images will appear washed out due
to high brightness and video will be extremely difficult to see.
Typically used in restaurants, retail stores, markets, offices, hospitals, schools and warehouses to
see people entering automated or open doors.
